Suicide not a solution, Malawi Police warn
The Malawi Police Service has decried the general increase in suicide cases in the country, emphasizing that killing oneself is not solution.
There has been an increase recently of suicide cases with people killing themselves due to various personal reasons.
Speaking on Tikhale Tcheru TV programme beamed on MBC-TV on Saturday afternoon, the Regional Detective Inspector for Sothern Region Police Superintendent Cladwell Kubwalo said “Committing suicide is not the solution to end problems you have met but rather enhance more problems for your relatives as well”.
“Some are killing themselves because have HIV/AIDS, others because relationships have ended with their lovers while others because of family disagreements. These are the problems that one can deal with rather than taking away your life,” said Kubwalo.
Kubwalo said it was baffling to note reasons people kill themselves for, and has since urged people to seek professional help when having personal problems before considering suicide.
Tikhale Tcheru is a Malawi Police TV programme, produced by Blantyre’s media agency Elephant Media Productions and is currently sponsored by ESCOM.
