Tay Grin, Lomwe cancel shows to avoid clash

In dramatic turn of events rappers Tay Grin and DJ Lomwe have been forced to call off their separate shows slated for this weekend and deferred them to next month to avoid show clash.

Tay Grin and DJ Lomwe were expected to hold separate shows of international repute on Saturday, 29 April, in the same city, Blantyre.

Self-crowned Nyau king, Tay Grin under his label, Black Rhyno Entertainment was set to host Nigerian rapper Ice Prince of Oleku and Super Star fame at Limbe Country Club just kilometers away from Blantyre Sports Club where Dj Lomwe was to launch a collaboration album with Botswana’s former Big Brother housemate, Zeus.

However, after noting the possibility of show clash was inevitable, the two have announced the postponement of their separate performances and pushed them to next month.

Tay Grin: Show postponed

Dj Lomwe disclosed in an interview that his show has been shifted to May 26 to avoid a clash with his old music foe, Tay grin.

“After noting the two shows are happening on same day, I decided to shift mine to next month so that we don’t have a clash because I want to give my fans good show and not divide them. And all is set for next month’s show. It will be massive with a lot of surprises,” said Lomwe.

Lomwe said nothing has changed about the show’s strategy. He, however, lamented lack of enough support from corporate world towards his show.

“Nothing will change, the show will be held just according to plan. The only problem am having now is lack of enough support from corporate world. It is being tough to get companies to support us but I will try as much as possible to get some on board,” added Lomwe, the 2011 Big Brother representative.

And Tay Grin in an interview with The Nation newspaper disclosed that the Ice Price show dubbed as Superstar Easter Bash was cancelled due to the funeral of President Bingu wa Mutharika.

Tay Grin real name Limbani Kalilani, said he decided to cancel the show in reverence to late Mutharika who was laid to rest on Monday 23. The show is slated for May 19 and 20 at same venues, Zanzi in Lilongwe and Limbe Country Club, Blantyre respectively.

On those who bought tickets to the show in advance, Tay Grin said the tickets will still be valid for the next month’s show.

Tay Grin was bringing in Nigerian rapper Ice Prince in a show to be curtain-raised by local reggae outfit Black Missionaries while Dj Lomwe, Zeus, Young K, Theo Thomson, Dare Devils were on the lead for the Blantyre Sport Club show. Some of last year’s BBA housemates including Kim and Wendal were expected to patronize Lomwe’s show.
