TNM powers ICTAM innovation awards with K3 million

Leading mobile services providers, TNM, has pumped in K3 million towards this year’s Information Communication Technology Association of Malawi (ICTAM) Innovation Forum set for Nkopola Lodge in Mangochi on October 6 and 7.

ICTAM president Wisely Phiri has since dubbed TNM as a platinum sponsor after the firm pumped in the biggest sponsorship ahead of the two-day event.

Presenting the sponsorship,

TNM’s Chief Officer– Enterprise Services, Vishwajeet Deshmukh, said as an ICT company they decided to support the innovation forum to promote innovation in the industry.

“The innovation forum it is one of the key event that provides platform to innovators to showcase their products if they are solving problems in the sector by providing solutions,” he said.

Deshmukh said time is ripe for local players in the sector to come up with innovation that address various problems in education, health and finance sector.

“When you use digital solutions they have high level of efficiency,” he said.

Speaking after receiving the donation, ICTAM boss, said the amount will help them to successfully host the innovation forum.

“We are having the forum at the lake and it involves a lot to host a function of that magnitude,” he said.

Phiri said TNM is major player in the ICT industry and they specifically approached the firm following suggestions they got after staging last year’s innovation forum.

“TNM is now our platinum sponsor we decided to partner with them because we felt it was important to intergrate our apps with the mobile money system (Mpamba),” he said.

This year’s innovation forum has received massive support after Vice President Saulos Chilima confirmed to grace the occasion.

Currently local and international organizations have supported the initiative.

SkyBand donated K500,000 towards the event and the firm is also expected to provide internet services to delegates.

An ICT company from the United States of America, Oracle, pumped in K2 million towards the event.

Another company Africa is Talking which operates in six countries within Africa also supported the course.
