The theme song has been developed into a Caller Tune which TNM customers can download for free.

The “Send Your Girls to School” project is a brainchild of Britain’s Ambassador Michael Nevin’s wife, Sawako in collaboration with Lucius Banda.

TNM Public Relations and Sponsorship Manager, Limbani Nsapato said the company decided to extend this to its customers as one way of promoting girl education in Malawi.

“Girl child education is one of pillars that TNM cooperate social responsibility policy so to support this initiative, TNM will offer its customers a chance to use the song as their caller tune at a free charge s” said Nsapato.

Nsapato said apart from this offer, TNM also supported the initiate for the production of the song to the tune of K1 million.

“TNM is committed to see our child sail through with their education that is why we have a number of initiatives that directly support girl child education” he said.

TNM support 20 girls in 11 public secondary schools with tuition and upkeep allowances, the initiative which aims to help accelerate access to education for underprivileged girls.

In her remarks Send Your Girls to School’ Project Team Leader Sawako Nevin commended TNM for the offer.

“TNM has offered us a good platform to raise awareness on girl child education and we are optimistic that this partnership will go a long way in ensuring this message put across on the importance of girl child education” said Nevin.

“In 2012/13, the  completion rates of primary education were 57% boys and 47% girls which remains almost the same over the past five years, with girls’ rate consistently lower than boys’ by 10% .

Inequalities in girls’ educational opportunities need to be solved as they are causing early marriage, early pregnancy, severe poverty for women, population upsurge and less economic development for entire communities,” she said.

Nevin said the overall object of this project is to increase citizen’s awareness, involvement and participation in promoting girls education. TNM subscribers can access the song through Caller Tunes code 300392.
