What Malawians need to know about strict new curbs on life
Up until recently, Malawians were just hearing about strict new measures to tackle the spread of coronavirus, including a ban on public gatherings on TV and social media. Whether they were hearing about lcokdown from friends and family in other countries or on news feeds, they were hearing about it. While many were trying to embrace the idea, some didn’t even give it a second thought. Now that is something that is going to completely change.
The country is also embracing new life order, as the government released the specifics and guidelines for fighting the virus pandemic. Since the announcement, there has no doubt been all kinds of uncertainty and confusion. Lockdown was stopped by court in Malawi if it were to be allowed, there could have been disruption of life.
Markets and Supermarkets
All of the country’s central markets would have been suspended. This means that fresh foods, fruits, relish, and other requirements would only be available and sourced from the local market. In the areas where there are no local markets. The Local Councils in conjunction with traditional or block leaders would have to identify and account which markets will be available to which areas. All that aside, most of these markets would have been operating from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm daily on prescribed days.
Local Councils along with the Ministry of Trade were set to announce and identify which stores and persons will be licensed to supply essential goods and services to the local markets and shops. In addition to this, the very same authorities will also be in charge of establishing and running a supply chain that moves the goods from wholesalers to the local markets.
The Movement Of People
