Malawi Law Society officials say they have now completed analysing 270 complaints involving misbehaving lawyers and have since asked the Attorney General Kalekeni Kaphale to inform the Chief Justice Andrew Nyirenda to take action.
President of the Malawi Law Society (MLS) John Suzi Banda said the society had earlier received over 400 complaints and most of the complaints involved abuse and misuse of clients money by the learned lawyers.
“Most of these cases date back as far as 2015.In 2015, we had received 402 complaints but we have managed to deal with the other complaints and we are remaining with 270 complaints,” he said.
Banda said the law provides that his organization reports the matter t the Attorney General who in turn would inform the Chief Justice for action.
He said most likely the lawyers would lose the practicing licences and will now be taken to court so that the clients can take back their money through court action.
