Jubilation as hundreds walk home with Bushiri’s K100/g maize in Ntcheu

It is 17:40HRS in Ntcheu district in the Central Region of the Southern African country, Malawi.

Enough stocks to cater for all the areas
The queues of people to buy Bushiri’s cheap maize
The truck which carried the grain

This is where Prophet Shepherd Bushiri, Leader of the Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) Church  has on Wednesday begun selling cheap maize to save close to two million poor Malawians facing severe hunger.

Though it is getting dark, people from the district continue flocking to Ntcheu Boma and scrambling for the maize going at almost a give away price of K5000 per bag.

To them, it is like Manna from heaven as unscrupulous private traders have been selling them the same quantity four times as much the price the Prophet is offering.

“I still want to get at least a bag for my family. What I earn cannot afford to buy the maize from the vendors selling at exorbitant prices,” says Luka Saidi from Traditional Authority Njolomole.

Bushiri’s spokesperson Ephraim Nyondo says they will be taking time at each selling point realizing increasing numbers of people coming for the cheap maize.

“We have enough stocks to cater for all the areas in huge need of the product,” says Nyondo.

The hunger situation has worsened in the country due to floods and Fall Army Worm outbreak that hit Malawi hard affecting several farming households.

Last year, the Malawi government flew adverts seeking the intervention of foreign suppliers of the commodity having failed to realize the required tonnes locally.

  1. Iwe chi editor why delete my comment? Chimanga cha pansi pa nyanja ichi, yense wakudya will be drafted into Satan’s service!

  2. This is the love of God through a man,may God bless you abundantly Prophet Bushiri for helping us….you are one in a million man of God.more grace to ECG Family in JESUS CHRIST NAME.

YOU WILL LIVE LONG TO TESTIFY THE LOVE OF JESUS CHRIST TO END OF THE WOLRD

  3. Here is a Northerner helping everybody in Malawi, especially the Southern region and on the other hand you are calling for the killings of all Northerners. You have introduced quota system to punish the Northerners but here is a Northerner helping Malawi. Peter Mutharika and his Lomwe cabinet have done nothing but to let Malawians die with hunger. The Northern region has never experienced hunger especially in the Tonga area where Cassava is their stable food. Cassava can grow in any climate. Even during hunger times the Northern region is less affected. If we can have a FEDERALISM in Malawi Northern region will be feeding the entire Malawi. Northerners are very smart people. Other regions have killed their soil by using too much fertilizer. This means nothing can grow without fertilizer while in the Northern region people have recognized that fertilizer kills soil and pollute underground water, and rivers. Drinking water that is polluted with fertilizer can caurse cancer. We need FEDERALISM in malawi with rotational presidency among pour three regions. Each region must have its own governor and the governorship in each region must be rotated among the indigenous tribes of that region. Each region or province must be allocated points according to its population. Southern region 35 points, Central region 30 points, and Northern region 25. In order for a political party to win the presidency it must have more than 50 points. With this political system you are removing domination by one region and tribe. The unitary system is a precipitant of civil war. The 50 plus 1 is not enough because it is still a UNITARY system. We cannot teach our children this oppressive political system. You have seen how the MEC and Peter Hitler Mutharika colluded with Jane Ansah to steal the elections. If we have to reform our political system it should be the one that is fair to everybody otherwise separation is the best solution. No one should be a third class citizen in his/her country. VIVA FEDERALISM. ALUTA CONTINUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

    1. Don’t post stupid things. Bushiris father is from Ntcheu. His mother is from the North. So he is not nepotistic like you. He has a love for all regions and there are many of us like that. Also Ntcheu is not in the southern region. please at least educate yourself

    2. You are misguided my friend, Bushiri`s father is from Ntcheu and mother from North. So you cannot conclude that he is solely a Northerner.

  4. This is good people from all walks of life should take this as an example and my message to malawians who are having negatives for the development which the prophert has done remember he is malawian and he is doing well in business tiyeni tisiye nsanje and we should learn to respect to those who help us,
i am happy with this blessed is the hand which gives i know akanawapatsa a dpp kuti a gawe bwenzi atapangira campaign ndithu thats why last year anawakaniza bwana bushiri kudzagawa chimanga .
ife sitingadye ndale zanu zomwe zikupindu;lira inu ndi abale anu okaha ife mkumavutika ma kampani kumangotipeta ngati mbuli zosaphunzira .

  5. Continue to serve your true living God. Gorvement is failing to feed it’s own citizens. Shame on corrupt Gorvement. Inu amene muli ndi ndalama tengerani chitsanzo chabwino

  6. Very few rich Malawians can think of poor people in villages and towns like Prop Bushiri, well done Papa. My request is please extend your selling/distribution points in towns and cities we are also dying of hunger. We cannot afford K20,000 per 50kg/bag.

  7. Mukagulitseso mutagula mochipa. Malawians we should learn. Harvest is just around the corner but you will sell all your bags of maize.

  8. This govt will go down in history as govt of looters, corruption.
K20,000 a 50 kg and alot cannot aford that , hence subjecting its own people to hunger.

    Mabala by Lucius Banda.

  9. Good move by the prophet. To the beneficiaries, do not sell the grain please, instead use that for consumption at least for the meantime.

      1. At least here is a real practical person. We have very rich Malawians who are spending their money corrupting judges in order to keep a ‘Tippexed-in’ president in power and don’t care what happens to poor Malawians. I don’t belong to Bushiri’s church and don’t care how he makes his billions, however this is a very good gesture which should be emulated even by our very rich and corrupt’ ‘Mwenye’ brothers.
