No hope for Thyolo people as Govt terminates construction of Thyolo-Makwasa-Thekerani-Makhanga road.
The government has terminated the contract for the construction of the K32 billion Thyolo-Makwasa-Thekerani-Makhanga road.
Roads Authority (RA) spokesperson Portia Kajanga has said that “this is because the resources for the work have been depleted. The contract has been closed at 77 kilometers out of the project’s 82 kilometers.”
According to Kajanga, the remaining resources have been channeled into fixing the areas that were damaged by Hurricane Freddy last year.
The Centre for Social Accountability and Transparency (CSAT) Executive Director, Willy Kambwandira, has described the development as unfortunate, saying, “It demonstrates a lack of prudence in the usage of taxpayer money.”
