28. This attack is a sad development. However, HRDC may be accusing the wrong people. The truth of the matter is that the leadership of HRDC as well as MCP and UTM have created for themselves a lot of enemies who are now very angry, following damage to property, loss of business and injuries as a result of the demonstrations. People affected are not just smiling. They are hurt. To whichever Churches these demonstration leaders belong, I would urge their Pastors to talk to them that the demonstrations are not peaceful. They are just creating animosity, and this is sinful. When there are no demonstrations, the country is calm. When there are demonstrations, there is a lot of suffering by many innocent people. I know a number of strong MCP and UTM followers whose property, including vehicles, have been damaged. The fear at the Border in Songwe for people to remove their cars so they are not damaged, note that the owners of these vehicles are not just DPP supporters, but also MCP and UTM. Demonstration leaders are shooting themselves in the foot. Where will these political leaders get the confidence to stand again for elections in 2024?
