Mutharika appoints new Malawi Cabinet: Atupele is energy minister, Kamlepo and Chimunthu appointed

President Peter Mutharika has appointed a new Cabinet and appointed ministers and deputy ministers incorporating members of the United Democratic Front (UDF) – a partner of his own Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) — into the cabinet and  drafted in veteran politican Kamlepo Kalua and former Speaker Henry Chimunthu Banda to try to broaden his popular appeal.

1. His Excellency Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika,  President of the Republic of Malawi, Minister of  Defence, Commander-In-Chief of the Malawi Defence  Force.

  1. Tell me please the cardinal sin Kutsaira Comited. Is it because he gave instructions to have a Rangers suit made for him. APM is very cruel. The man was dropped as both Regional Governor and Minister.

  4. Those whom God wishes to destroy God first makes mad.Malawi is the first country ever to appoint two Ministers of Tourism – Symon Vuwa Kaunda and Salim Bagas. So how far from being mad, is this man Peter Mutharika?
    All this shenanigans because the Constitutional Court erred in in its judgement. For having accepted that th election of Peter Mutharika was null and void as it was rigged, and that there should be a rerun election, the Court should have provided a remedy for an illegally elected President to step down immediately.
    The Court not having provided the remedy for an unelected President to step down immediately has left Malawi with an unelected President excercising Presidential powers including to to appoint a cabinet and to refuse to pass legislation passed by parliament.
    The entry of the so called political engineer Bakili Muluzi into politics will further perpetrate illegality – already apparent by the decisive politics and defiance of parliament by Peter Mutharka. The opposition parties therefore should not spare Muluzi from exposing him as the Godfather of corruption and divide and rule politics. Out of a population of 14, 000,000 surely Malawians can not be expected to continue to accept a Mutharika or a Muluzi as their leader.

  17. Boma ilo. This is a winning team, we must energize the base and the grassroots in order to give APM another mandate. Afterwards, Atupele and Kondwani Nankhumwa must take over. We need youth to lead from 2024. Chakwera and Abusalomu wowukila bambo wache ndikugona ndi amai awo akagwele uko.

  18. Chimunthu Banda should be very careful because it is a known fact that Mutharika hates him with passion and this ministerial position has been offered in bad faith. Why was he not offered a position for 6 years and only to be offered one for 2 months? Really?
